Default Another trade channel

I have just got back from farming and went to Ascalon city in the hope of selling some items. After a while of getting no responses, I decided to watch the trade channel to see if there was anyone who mentioned wanting to buy something I could sell them.

The trouble is, on trade chat, the ratio of sellers to buyers is probably something like 20:5 and it can be akward searching through all the messages popping up every millisecond and trying to read what people are buying or selling.

My suggestion:

I propose making seperate channels for buyers and sellers. That way, people looking to buy items can turn off the buy channel to view what people are selling, and those who have perhaps just spent a while farming can turn off the sell channel to focus on those messages from people who are just looking to buy.

(hopefully that didn't sound too confusing)

Suggestions and opinions welcomed

This would accomplish nothing. People already use the open channels and even whispers to buy/sell things. There will always be idiots who spam in the worng channels, and adding new ones won't help any.

Yup, maybe just make that filter thing with all WTB into buy and all WTS into sell...all combinations of such also automatically go there.

Yup. Until all the channels are used properly in their current form, I am NOT in favor of adding another one. (Aside from the Alliance channel upcoming).

Sure they do, its to be expected. I just went into GW and took this screenshot:

As you can see, many people are using the 'All' channel for trading, but that doesn't mean having the 'Trade' channel there doesn't accomplish anything and it doesn't mean we should get rid of the Trade channel. I know your not implying that we should, but my point is that having a 'Buy' and 'Sell' channel would at least clean up some of the clutter.

Not only that, if a person wants to sell an item but decides to use the 'Buy' channel instead (to deliberately be immature) then that person is far far less likely to make a sale because he /she would be deliberately making things difficult for themselves.

Why would you need seperate channels? Just use the trade channel to buy/sell stuff and when you see something you are interested in whisper te buyer/seller... More channels will only cause more spam...

I really like the idea of some kind of spam filter, I am always annoyed by the idiots that use the local channel to buy/sell stuff! You can't make a decent conversation with those spammers...

Then perhaps an idea would be to make the 'All' channel completely filtered from 'WTB' and 'WTS' ?

The posted reponses have summed up the whole issue. We have to live with it unfortunately.

Some people just love the market and will do anything to sell an item. That's just capitalism and they'll do anything to sell like any aggresive saleman would. So I dont think the addition of new channels will accomplish much. But thank goodness the sellers tend to stay in the first district or two of each city to peddle their wares.

Some GW forums sites (including this one) have created auction houses to help in the selling of items. A great idea to alleviate the hassle of reading that incredibly fast scrolling text at times, especially in LA. But, I've already seen people bidding in the millions for no other reason than to aggrivate the seller. Although this happens at times it's not rampant.

The question then goes back to Anet, "Will you incorporate an auction house in game?". Been asked for by so many for so long. But in reality, do you think this will stop "WTS?WTB" spamming in game? I belive not. Simply trying to block WTS/WTB verbage will only lead to *WTB/*WTS and so on.

This subject has been touched upon many times and I do belive we are stuck with this very minor problem. I am by no means a seller of items. I just stay out of those districts and thus avoid the WTS/WTB spam.

The thing about it is that WoW doesn't have a problem with people abusing their local channels for trade. At all. Sometimes someone will "Yell," but even that is very rare.

Is that just because they have an auction house, or is it because they actually reprimand people for abusing the wrong channel?

I'd love to see the channels get cleaned up in this game.

Edit: Also, Zlim, it's not just any one district. You cannot escape it except by leaving town.

They have an auction house in WoW, which eliminates most spam. Also a feature I like in WoW is ability to put items into chat like this
:Selling [Morgoth's Mace] <--If you click Morgoth's Mace, the stats and appearence of the weapon come up.

I'd *love* to be able to filter out WTS and WTB from local chat. That would get rid of 90% of the crap, IMO.
